About BJ Isaacs
B.J. Isaacs has been serving the Lord for over forty years with a passion to see the lost come to Jesus and for God’s Kingdom purposes to be established on the earth. He has served in various positions at pastoral and ministerial levels, fellowshipped in several denominations, pioneered an interdenominational church, and taught in several schools ranging from junior high through Bible college. He has enjoyed the privilege of participating in several short term mission trips both in the USA and in Jamaica, Haiti, and Honduras. He has carried the gospel from the public square to prison, from “champa” to mission, from pulpit to house church, from gospel tent to the streets.
He was born in central Illinois, raised at Buckner Baptist Orphanage (a.k.a. Buckner Baptist Childrens Home) in Dallas, Texas, and returned to Illinois while a teenager. As an emancipated minor, he completed high school in Sullivan, Illinois and subsequently enlisted in the army, serving in Vietnam. Although he knew of the Lord and showed evidence of being called to preach as a young boy, he walked away from all of this until his life fell apart with a divorce, failing grades in pharmacy, and dabbling in the occult. When confronted with the question of whether to serve God or the devil, he surrendered his life to the Lord in 1977. (His testimony has been aired on the radio show “Unshackled” by Pacific Garden Mission in Chicago, Illinois.) Since then, he has served as a volunteer chaplain at a mental health center in the Chicago area, as a counselor at Pacific Garden Mission, pastored two churches in the state of Georgia, taught in Christian schools, been a traveling evangelist, a professor of Greek, an associate pastor of a Foursquare Church in Parma, Ohio, and pioneered a church in Cleveland, Ohio, as well as interim pastoral positions. Currently he is part of the North East Ohio Church Network.
He and his wife, Bonnie, are parents of three daughters and two sons-in-law. He holds a bachelor’s degree from Concordia Lutheran College and a Master of Arts in Theological Studies from Northern Baptist Theological Seminary. Yet, B.J. feels that all these accomplishments are as nothing in comparison to the most vital task that God has ever burdened his heart with… that of carrying forth the message of our desperate and urgent need for revival. His soul cries out to God as did the Prophet Isaiah “Oh, that You would rend the heavens! That You would come down!” (Isaiah 64:1).
This sound file is that of the original Unshackled radio broadcast, and includes a dramatized version of how BJ (a.k.a. Bob or Bobby) came to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ and was born again. Although there are minor inaccuracies in the drama (such as names/persons/restaurant,) the testimony generally reflects accurately his encounter with and surrender to the Lord. Two minutes radio segments are herein, the first of which is about him, and he speaks at minute 26. The second is about Billy Sunday.
